Skeptics Rejoice at Climate Research Unit Emails; Global Warming Continues Apace

Morning has dawned on the post Anthropogenic Global Warming consensus era and several English bloggers and Sen. James Inhofe are really enjoying themselves.

To recap: a single email server at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) contained all the evidence of the global conspiracy to trick people into believing that climate change, AKA ManBearPig, (South Park’s take on Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”) is real and imminent.

It was hacked last week and now the cat’s out of the bag.

Required reading on this topic: James DelingpooleDelingpole, whose writing has a Thatcherite snark that could wither a box of fresh clementines. His Web traffic has, no doubt, shot through the roof as a result of this scandal. He’s been busily blogging on it all weekend because the mainstream media has been too lazy to cover the issue — a front page article in The New York Times by Andy Revkin is not sufficient, Delingpoole wants the whole paper!

The climate skeptic movement has also been doing its best to come up with the appropriate metaphor for this treasure trove of emails. It’s a smoking gun! It’s a mushroom cloud! It’s the greatest scandal in modern science! They have to keep upping the rhetoric because there’s not much news now that the emails have been released and the scientists are explaining what they meant.

Ironically, the skeptics are showing the kind of confirmation bias they accuse the climate scientists of having. Every email provides more proof and hidden emails are the most revelatory.

Meantime, at humble old Green Energy Reporter we have fielded comments from some relatively friendly skeptics. Our response goes something like this: Yes, we believe in global warming. No, the publication of a few megabytes of emails from an English university without context does not show that climate change is fake. DO NOT dump your green energy stocks.

Climate Progress has been blogging on the issue all weekend with the usual bars and graphs (unfortunately, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has not weighed in.)

Mother Earth blogged on the issue this weekend in the North of England. Rainstorms “of biblical proportions” dropped 12.3 inches of water fell on the Lake District. Just bad timing for the climate skeptics, we guess.

No mention of the fact that all the numbers that shows how real global warming is comes, directly or indirectly, from this Climate “Research” Center, or that they quite literally obliterated from all records the raw temperature data that their “refined” data comes from (thus keeping anyone from being able to look at their work and equations and see just HOW refined that data is.)
The AGW community seeks to dump trilions of dollars down the drain (not that that’s a lot, after we went down the Cuban fascist dictatorial method of printing tons of money (a form of indirect but very effective taxation), on what? A life saved from cancer over the course of a hundred years? We could be using this money on the Final Frontier (funny how a whole big vast cosmic universe disappeared overnight. NASA has been recieving VERY little funding recently, but you know what? Who cares? The universe will still be there when we’re a fascist dictatorship.) Or we could be curing Cancer outright. But oh wait, I forgot about the list of all the hundreds of problems caused by Global Warming (funny how many problems speculation reveals.)

(Note also that the beginning of the rise in temperature does not begin with the advent of industrialization, but the end of the Little Ice Age. In fact, right before said ice age, temperatures were already at LEAST 2 degrees celsius higher.)
(Note also that the ice caps are hardly proof of warming. Glaciation and Deglaciation occure long after the warming and cooling that causes it (momentum is still a powerful force.) And, of course, don’t forget that just watching ice breaking off is not an accurate way to measure. Ice melts more drastically than it freezes, in terms of cinematics, regardless of whether or not more freezing is happening than melting.)

The real crisis is not that mother nature is mad at capitalists. The real crisis is a Babylonian confusion of tongues, of people not knowing what they are saying to each other because they are afraid to oppose each other, of a dark, ancient Satanic figure seeking to “transcend” the truth and write existence the way he wants to, rather than the way it is. The real crisis is the people who claim they are rational tell lies because somehow they think that telling lies is a way to tell the truth.
But in reality, in what world can we say that a stagnant world like the world of the Transcendentalist is progressive? How is it rational to say that dishonesty is honest? When does deciet and immorality become true and just? In what wicked world shall “evil be thou my good?” In what world do Hell gates become Heaven doors? In what world is the creation holier than the creator?
In what world is it better to reign in Hell, where power grips like a vice, than serve in Heaven, where the yolk is easy and light?

As a proud nerd, I need to correct you here. It WASN’T a single email server which was ‘hacked’. Full deatils have yet to be released on how and where the information was held.

In my professional opinion, it looks much more like an open FTP server (which is the least secure place you could store such information). If this turns out to be the case, then it must have been done with the assistance of somebody at the CRU, as everything, including source code, has been included in the files.

If you dont understand the importance of the SOURCE CODE in this issue, find the ‘Harry_read_me.txt’ file, ask someone you trust to interpret it for you, and then post again.
I would strongly recommend you don’t use an online source to translate the code, or you might get duped.

The source code is used to structure how the models operate. If I had been asked to programme something of this importance in the way it has been done, I would blow the whistle as soon as possible.

I’ve been pretty open minded on the whole man made warming, until now. This is purely conclusion driven nonsense.
    Shame where is thy blush?

FYI : I have worked in software dev. for about 18 years.
