Chevron ready to go against the Washington coal lobby?
Chevron CEO Dave O’Reilly, debating America’s energy future with Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope, at a recent event in San Francisco came out in favor of coal reduction. Coal fuels more that half of the U.S.’ electricity generation portfolio. When pressed by Pope to fly with him to Washington to fight coal handouts by Congress, O’Reilly agreed to join him on his next trip to Capitol Hill.

Update – 4:58 pm (central time): In an email a Chevron spokesman tells GER: “Mr. O’Reilly has expressed interest in working with Mr. Pope on meetings in DC if an agenda can be agreed upon.”
