Al Gore’s Group releases new clean energy ad
The new ad released today by Repower America, the clean energy advocacy group founded by former Vice President Al Gore, includes a lot of the Obama administration’s own talking points: Clean energy is about the environment, jobs and energy independence/security.
The ad comes as the U.S. House is set to debate the Waxman – Markey climate change bill, which was approved last month by the Energy and Commerce Committee. The legislation, one of the Obama White House signature project, includes policy proposals also advocated by Repower America, such as greater investments in carbon-free power generation, an upgrade of the national grid and a boost in energy efficiencies. It also includes a much-debated cap-and-trade provision. The Republican counter-proposal, released last week, calls for more oil and gas drilling and the construction of more than 100 nuclear power plants over the next 20 years.
