Calgary Green Energy Developer Raises $74M

Calgary-based BluEarth Renewables, a developer of  hydro, wind and solar power projects in North America, has secured a C$75 million ($74 million) investment from the private equity arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

With this latest investment BluEarth has now raised has now raised over C$160 million in equity from ARC Financial Corp., Teachers’,  company management and other unnamed investors.

BluEarth plans to use the cash to buy operating assets across the whole renewable energy offering.  Managing the company are industry veterans, including Kent Brown, Canadian Hydro’s former chief executive officer.
