Cedar Point Wind Energy Project: Vestas to Supply 250 MW of Turbines

Vestas won an order for 250 megawatts of wind turbines this morning from Renewable Energy Systems Americas for the Cedar Point Wind Energy Project in Colorado, according to Reuters. The value of the order, for 139 V90-1.8 MW turbines was not disclosed.

Renewable Energy Systems Americas announced yesterday that it had sold the project, which is located 80 miles east of Denver, to Enbridge for $500 million. Read More »

AES Grows East European Wind Portfolio

Arlington, Va.-based power developer AES is boosting its renewable energy project pipeline in Eastern Europe. Yesterday, the power developer announced an agreement to acquire a 51 percent stake in the 353-megawatt development pipeline of Polish wind developer Jan Reichert.

Acciona Energia Secures $375M Debt Financing For 250 MW Wind Farm

Funding for Acciona Energia’s $600 million, 250-megawatt Eurus wind farm in southern Mexico is taking shape. Yesterday, the World Bank’s International Finance Corp. (IFC) announced that it will lead a $375 million debt financing supporting the construction of the wind farm, which is considered to be one of the largest of its kind in Latin America.

Wind: A Buyers Market, Report Says

Market research firm Bloomberg New Energy Finance say the average price of operating wind-power assets declined in 2009 because of ongoing investor-concern over the global economic instability. In 2009 operating wind farms sold for €1.66 million ($1.99 million) per megawatt compared to €1.75 million per megawatt in mid-2008.
