GE on Track to Invest $6bn in Renewables by 2010

General Electric’s energy financing unit, GE Energy Financial Services, says its on track to meet its goal of having $6 billion invested in renewable energy by the end of 2010, spokesman Andrew Katell tells us.

The company currently has some $4.5 billion invested in clean energy. About 80 percent of that amount supports wind generation and the balance backs geothermal and solar projects.

Yesterday GE Energy announced two equity investments in a string of wind farms owned by Horizon Wind Energy. The company is expected to announce two similar equity investments next week, says Katell declining to be more specifics.
